Some of my customers write me email questions about their dolls– things they would like to know about when it was made and what the right style is. I would like to answer your questions on this blog, so anyone who might have the same question(s) can see the answers.
I would like to have you ask me the questions you would like answered, (concerning pre-1960 dolls, sorry I can’t help with those newer than that) and I will post an answer if I know the answer.
As an example, the customer who inspired this has an antique doll she inherited, and she loves the doll but knew nothing about it, not the time period or the appropriate style dress or even what kind of wig she should have. I helped her with all her questions and helped her find the right wig to buy, so her doll is all fixed up now.
It made me realize other people buying clothes for old dolls may not know who their dolls are and therefore not know the right way to dress them, so now if you are following my blog, feel free to send me your questions about your doll. For right now you may have to email the pictures, until my webmaster can set it up for you to send those too– but you can ask your questions here.
Let me remind you that we LOATHE spam and hate those sites that if you do anything they immediately fill your inbox with junk. We DO NOT DO THAT. Your replies will be posted on the blog unless you email me separately for something and actually request a reply.
So feel free to post questions below— about your doll, who she is and what she should wear, or questions about patterns and sewing for your doll– always keep in mind, I only sew for or answer questions about dolls made BEFORE 1960.
The cute little antique bisque doll illustrating this post belongs to Julie Mann of Colorado. She was lucky to inherit her! She is wearing one of my antique style dresses.
