Book, Dolls, Toys and Games 1860-1930.
This soft cover book is a treasure trove of actual catalog illustrations of toys, games, dolls and such from the page of the mail order catalogues that were used for a hundred years and more by people who lived far from city shopping– you might say they were the “Amazon of that era” at least the closest we had. At the bottom of the pages of illustrations it tells you what catalog they are from–F.A.O. Schwarz to Montgomery Ward to Sears to Tootsie Toy. The toys, games and dolls have wonderful descriptions that take you back to another place in time. I wish I could show ALL the pictures! You will be amazed at the toys and games that period of time offered. When looking through the illustrations and looking at prices, keep in mind that much of that period, the average working man earned a dollar a day! So if a toy or game is $3.00 it cost three days pay! this book was printed in 1971. Has been used a lot but no tears or pages missing, still very usable.
This book will fit into a flat rate padded envelope, so if the shopping cart overcharges on shipping, I always refund the overage.
All laces, trims, notions and fabrics are sold by the piece or package only. The yardage listed is accurate on each one, and while most are more than one piece, I don’t put on any pieces that are under 2 yards. If you should find a 1 yard piece, it was not included in the final count, I just don’t like to throw away the shorter pieces so include them at no charge. If you have a question about this please feel free to call or email.
