ANTIQUE DOLL DRESS, SILK
Antique style doll dress for antique bisque doll– done in rose colored or pale pink Dupioni silk. The dress is trimmed with Rayon Venise lace beading with pure silk double-faced ribbon on the bodice and sleeves, along with French Valencia cotton lace. French Valencia lace has been used for more than a century on antique doll dresses. Rayon Venise lace and Rayon fabrics were in common use on antique dolls by 1910, it was used earlier but by then it was in common use. If you read the description of doll dresses in old catalogs, you will often see ” imitation silk” listed as the fabric– the “imitation silk” was rayon. The fringe on the pleated skirt is also rayon Venise lace. The bow at the waist is pure double faced silk satin. The dress fastens in back with snaps. It is shown over a dropped waist slip, sold separately. A slip is not required as the silk is not sheer, but it adds fullness to the pleated skirt. To find your size, measure your doll from the bottom of her feet to the top of her head, not including the hair. For example, if your doll is 19″, you would order the 19-20″ size. There are only four of these, one in each size.
This dress is designed to fit ball jointed body or leather body antique German child dolls, but won’t fit a fat toddler body. It may also fit your French doll but please send measurements of your doll ( Height, neck, chest measured under the arms and widest part of the hips) to be sure.
There are no refunds or exchanges on my doll clothes, so please be sure of size. I am always glad to help you, feel free to email me or call any day between 12 noon and ten PM at 360-836-7556. I am on the west coast in Vancouver Washington.
